30th May 2012

We hope you are having a great week!

1. Racing News:

Best of luck to Dave “Lunchbox” Limon and Gareth “Garfy” Jones, who are saddling up this week-end for Ironman Cairns! A shout out also to our members from across the ditch Oli Horn who is doing the Ironman and Sue Horn who is on the start line for the half and to Andrew Perks who is coached remotely. And most would know the 3 boys were part of the crew who missed out on Ironman New Zealand in March when it got cancelled.  They say the hardest part of doing an Ironman is the 20 or so weeks of training in the lead-up so we tip our hats to you boys for backing up!

Whilst we are on Garfy there was a great article written about Garfy recently, see attached

Unfortunately Bec Finlayson and Ahmad Sowaid have both had to pull out due to illness and injury.

2. Ding Ding

Well what can we say about this one……  Our legendary swim coach turned boxer Johnny Van Wisse jumped in the ring for his first bout on Friday night.  Unfortunately those who went along didn’t get their money’s worth as Van delivered a crushing blow to his opponents jaw knocking him out in the first minute.

The great man was left the victor with not even a scratch.  Lucky the guy didn’t land a blow on Van’s coconut as he would have ended up with a broken hand along with his broken jaw….. Well done Van, rumour is Kane fancies himself as Van’s next opponent……

3. Welcome Aboard!

A massive welcome to new starters Michlene Vincent and Nick Phibbs!

4. Melbourne Marathon Running Festival

14th October gang -  Whether it’s the Full marathon, ½ Marathon, 10km, 5.7km ,3 km event – It’s a great goal race to have over winter.  If you are looking to increase  your performance, step up in distance or are struggling with motivation/structure it may be worth considering an individual program and coaching from one of us.  They are a guaranteed way to maximise your training!

We will have a team brunch afterwards.

5. Time-Trials

Just a reminder it’s swim time-trials next week and run the week after!

6. Quote the week

“'When it comes to achieving significant things in life, the determining factor is almost always the will to achieve.”

Have a ripper week,

Matty, Jimmy & Kane
