VO2 testing

VO2 max testing! So what does it all mean?

Basically, a VO2 max test measures the amount of oxygen your body consumes, per kg of body weight, per minute. The greater the number out of 100, the more efficient your aerobic system is. This is an important number for all endurance athletes as it enables us to determine how efficient our bodies are and how to train them the most effectively. In a nut shell, the higher VO2 max score is the quicker we can go!

King lake

King Lake Ride

Sunday 13th September 2009 saw close to 3,000 riders descend on the town of Whittlesea for the second annual Degani Kinglake Ride.  Overcast, yet warm conditions greeted the riders who were there to challenge themselves over distances of 70km or 120km.  The challenge made even greater when the skies opened up 15 minutes before the scheduled start time.

 "It was 19C when I hit Whittlesea at 7:00 on Sunday for the Degani Kinglake Ride.  Balmy early Spring morning.  Didn't last.  Started raining at 7:30, just as we were about to start.  Seemed light at first but soon picked up and we were already drenched heading along the first section towards Melbourne and by the time we had turned left towards Arthurs Creek and towards the first rise.
